Today is Maya Angelou's birthday! I will always remember the first book I read by her! I Know Why The Caged Bird Sings. I was a teenager, I remember being amazed as well as excited to find her and that book! That book completely shifted my reading habits. After reading that book I had to read more of her works! It opened up a whole new realm of reading for me.
Black Music by Leroi Jones aka Amiri Baraka is what I am reading right now. I love this book so far, it is full of history and culture. Amazing glimpses of jazz and jazz greats in the begining of the book. I am not reading it fast. I am taking my time with it.
